Everyone so desperately wants to be who they currently are; but precious few are- currently- who they want to be.

If we routinely let 'the situation' get the better of us, then we would all converge on a homogeneous existence. Excuses containing the antecedent- i.e. "I had to because of the circumstances"- should not be used, for underlying implications of such use yield conclusions of existential crisis...
